Summer Hours/Convention Season

With the summer months approaching and hotter days already here The Rusted Nail has changed their hours. Starting now we will be open Friday 2pm - 10pm, Saturday 11am - 10pm, and Closed Sunday - Thursday with early Sunday morning by appointment only. We will continue to host a new show/event every 2nd Friday 6pm - 11pm and may be open for special events such as Mesa Block Party and any other street fairs.

It's also convention season and we will be closed for Phoenix Comicon May 24th - 27th. We may try to be open after con hours on Friday and Saturday, depending on after party events and well honestly how tired I am.

San Diego Comic-Con is July 11th - 15th and we will be attending. Not realizing that it's a week earlier this year, our 2nd Friday event for July falls on the 13th. If I can find someone to open the doors that night the show will go on, otherwise this may be the first 2nd Friday we'll be closed. Artists involved in the planned show have been contacted and we're working together to make this happen.

Neo-Victorian Wasteland II

It's that time again. 2nd Friday is hosting their Sci-Fi Friday event in May and running along side it will be Steampunk Street IV put on by Evermore Nevermore.

The Rusted Nail Gallery will host it's 2nd Neo-Victorian Wasteland show featuring Custom Designer Vinyl, Metal & Wood Sculptures, Original Resin Figures, Paintings, and more done in the Steampunk/Neo-Victorian style.

Anybody is free to submit work for the show. Please contact therustednail@cox.net for more information or to be a part. We will also have a limited amount of space out front for those locals wanting to set up a table. Of coarse you can also contact steampunk@evermorenevermore.com and sign up for a spot for the 2nd Friday art walk along Main Street.

Star Wars Day: May The Fourth Be With You

Friday May the 4th, otherwise known in the geek community as Star Wars Day. The Rusted Nail Gallery will host an evening of Star Wars themed artwork by local artists. As well as Star Wars collectible toys, comic books, costumes, prizes, and more.

We were originally looking to host this event at another venue, but nobody seemed to want to jump at the opportunity to host a Star Wars themed event or were too busy planning for Free Comic Book Day the following day. So when all else fails, host it yourself.

Monsters On Main Street

Monsters on Main Street opened Friday April 13th as a part of
Mesa's Second Friday Night Out and to help celebrate the opening of
Monsterland Bar & Grill.

Custom Designer Vinyl & Resin will take the main stage while
the walls will bleed with canvases from both local and international artists.
The theme is Monsters and of coarse being Friday the 13th the scarier the better.

Anybody is free to submit pieces for the show which opens
Friday the 13th of April and will run until Saturday May 5th.

Build The Robots/1 Year Anniversary Show

Holy crap it's been a year already!? Indeed, The Rusted Nail Gallery opened its doors March 11th 2011. So come out and celebrate with us. We'll have robots, food, drinks, prizes, a live DJ, and more. Build The Robots opens Friday March 9th as a part of Mesa's 2nd Friday Night Out. Featuring metal robots, wood robots, resin robots, cardboard robots, vinyl robots, and robots of all sizes created by a handful of select artists, both local and out of state.

I Heart Munny custom DIY Munny show

Friday February 10th from 6pm - 10pm come out and enjoy our Valentine's Day themed I <3 Munny custom Munny show featuring custom DIY Munnys by artists from all over including Canada and the UK. Show kicks off Friday night as a part of Mesa's 2nd Friday Night Out art walk. We'll have treats for your sweets and lots of great original gift ideas for your loved one.

We now have an online shop at Storenvy that has a selection of sold out Designer Vinyl Toys. I will be adding more items to the shop within the next week or so. Many items are NEW and have never been displayed, while others are from a personal collection, but still in like new condition with original packaging(unless otherwise noted).

Winter Vinyl Wonderland & Deck The Halls *HELD OVER*

This was/is our first dual show... the first of which is dubbed "Winter Vinyl Wonderland"! This is an open platform winter themed designer vinyl toy show featuring artists from all over. Pick up your favorite DIY designer vinyl toy, be it Munny, Trexi, Qee, MadL, or even those ones they sell at Target and Michaels. Grab your paint pens, airbrush, and sculpey and get to customizing. The theme is Winter, but it doesn't have to be holiday related. It can be anything to do with winter and things that take place during these cold(er) months.

The second show... called "Deck The Halls", and you guessed it... this is a custom skate deck show and this, unlike the the top show, is an open theme show and anybody is welcome to take part. You can use any style or brand of skate deck you wish, even that beat up old Nash sitting in the garage. Use any medium including air brush, acrylic paints, spray paint, or markers and customize your skate deck as you see fit. Local shop Ski Pro has warped decks for $9.99 which seems to be the cheapest I could find. The shows originally opened Friday December 9th, but will now re-open with new pieces on Friday January 13th and are open to everybody. Neo-Victorian Wasteland

Last Friday was the opening of the Neo-Victorian Wasteland show that ran along side Steampunk Street III and Mesa 2nd Friday Night Out. The gallery was jammed pack with enthusiasts, fans, and newcomers of all ages. Several pieces have sold already so get down and check out this awesome show. Show runs until Saturday December 3rd. A la mode and A la carte: Featuring new works from Dams and Steve Caballero

The Rusted Nail Gallery presents, A la mode and A la carte group show featuring new paintings by local artists Dams and Steve Caballero.

Taking a step away from our traditional designer vinyl shows, this will be The Rusted Nails first all canvas show. All of the wall space will feature new paintings from both Dams and Steve Caballero. Come out and support your local artists during Mesa's 2nd Friday Art Walk.

Show kicks off Friday September 9th 6pm - 11pm and will run until Saturday October 8th.

Join us for a look into resin. We will have tons of resin figures on display as well as mold samples and artists on hand to talk about the world of resin as an art form. There will be several exclusive runs available for purchase by both local and international artists. Some artists include Motorbot, KiLL!, Bwana Spoons, uh oh Toys, Monstrehero, Doktor Strangebeast, Rivet Wars, Rusted Halo, and more.

Munny World Showcase CALL FOR ARTISTS

Munny World Showcase, featuring custom Munny World, Mini Munny, 7" Munny, Mega Munny, and Dunny by artists from all over.

A little short notice for a full blown show, but if you're a customizer and have a custom Munny or Dunny sitting around or can have one done up by July 7th then come be a part and show off your work. There's no theme, just keep it to the Munny and Dunny world figures. Even if it's just a 3" Dunny. You're free to list them for sale or if you wish to just have them on display to show off your work that's fine too.

The show will kick off Friday July 8th which is 2nd Friday Art Walk here in Mesa. Which means tons of people will be wondering down Main Street and into the gallery checking out your work.

Featuring items by Kid Robot, threeA, Toy2R, Play Imaginative, Ugly Doll, StrangeCo, Super7, MINDstyle, and many more. Including autographed, rare & sold out items, open blind box, custom fodder, and much much more.

Come down and buy/sell/trade with local collectors and shops. Door buster deals, snacks and drinks, raffles, and more. At 6pm the local 2nd Friday art event kicks off, so stick around and check out other local shops and vendors set up along Main Street.

Villains, Pick Your Poison Designer Vinyl Show Friday May 13th

With Comic Con season upon us and Phoenix Comicon next month The Rusted Nail Gallery is doing another open platform designer vinyl show. The theme is Villains. This can be Movie, TV, Comic Book or any other form of Villain that you see fit. Example being true to life people who are portrayed as Villains or evil people. Open platform so pick your favorite DIY be it Munny, Qee, Trexi, MadL, Mighty Mugg, or whatever else and do it up.

The show will kick off with Mesa's 2nd Friday event on May 13th and then the show will open again to run along side Phoenix Comicon May 26th -29th. Several pieces will be picked at random to be on display at our booth at the Con so tons more people will be seeing your piece. Anybody can be a part, but I'm sure we'll have a strong CTU group presence with this one.

Deadline for submissions is Friday May 6th to be a part of the 2nd Friday show and May 23rd to be a part of the Phoenix Comicon show. So if you can't make it in by the 6th there's still time to be a part of the Phoenix Comicon show. Contact therustednail@cox.net for more information.
